RONALDO WILL STAY
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said that he will do everything within his powers to keep star Cristiano Ronaldo at the club. The Portuguese international has been widely linked with a move away from Real Madrid after stating a few months ago that he was unhappy at the club. He has a contract until 2015 and is one of the highest earning players in the world. Clubs like Manchester City and PSG can easily offer much bigger contracts than he is on at Real Madrid. Since arriving to the club in 2009 for a world-record fee of £ 80 million, Ronaldo has been one of the best players at the club.
He has managed to almost single-handedly help the club win all the major trophies in Spain apart from the Champions league. He is now on course to helping the club lift the 10th European trophy in their history, as they are in the semifinals of the competition. Ahead of the match with Borussia Dortmund, Perez said that Ronaldo has proven over the years that he is extremely important to Real Madrid. Hence, the club will be doing everything to keep the 27-year-old at the Santiago Bernabeu. Ronaldo has managed to score almost 200 goals in just 193 appearances for the Spanish club.
“Keep calm, we are going to renew with Cristiano Ronaldo. The club are going to pay him. Real Madrid are having a great month with the Champions League and the Copa del Rey final. Being the president of this club is difficult but so is being the coach. We must learn to live with it. We can discuss it between us, but we have to stay together. Criticism helps us,” said Perez in a recent interview. Perez is widely expected to sack José Mourinho at the end of the season.
