Chelsea Officially Confirms Costa Signing
Chelsea has officially confirmed the signing of Diego Costa as the former Athletic Madrid player will be making his way to Stamford Bridge after signing a contract that will see him remaining with the Premier League club for the next 5 years.
Diego Costa’s sensational form during the previous season attracted the eyes of clubs around the globe but it was Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea the team that eventually managed on signing him.
Costa wrote on Chelsea’s official website: “I am very happy to sign for Chelsea. Everybody knows it is a big club in a very competitive league, and I am very excited to get started in England with a fantastic coach and team-mates’’
“Having played against Chelsea last season I know the high quality of the squad I am joining. I would like to thank everybody at Athletic who made me into the player I am, it was an incredible time for me, but now I am starting a new adventure and I hope to win many trophies with Chelsea.”
Diego Costa was the main attacking powerhouse of Athletic Madrid in the previous season as he helped his former club on winning the Spanish League as they shocked the world by performing better than their rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona which allowed them on claiming the league title in a surprising fashion.
Jose Mourinho is preparing a squad that will not only be able to compete in the Premier League but make a serious charge for the Champions League of the next season as the Portuguese manager is going to have at his disposal some of the best players in the world, which is the case of: Petr Cech, Thibaut Courtois, Oscar, Diego Costa, Andre Schurrle, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard.
